Eureka

An art show without art, just ideas.

August - September 2024

The Pool at Near Southside

1801 8th Ave. Fort Worth, TX 76110

A community Brainstorming Event.

EUREKA is a unique art show that isn’t about what artists have created, but instead it is about what artists, art enthusiasts, and creative thinkers want to create.

The show is centered around a large wall full of ideas for art that people want to make, art they want to exist in the world, and just generally cool ideas that they want to share with folks.

It could be as grand as a painting series you want to start, a public art sculpture you want to see in your neighborhood, or a high concept rock opera you want to write. Or it could be as simple as a drag persona you think would be fun, a punny band name, or a silly store concept.

It could truly be any idea that you want to share that we can pin to a wall.

This show is meant to display the breadth & depth of creativity that flows through all of Fort Worth. It’s meant to show that creativity doesn’t just belong to those who self-describe as artists, but creativity is something that flows through everyone. We’re all full of great ideas, and when we share them, we can add to each others ideas, and build upon them.

This show is also an opportunity for community collaboration. We all have skills, talents, and resources that can aid in creating the vibrant arts city that we want to thrive. Now is the time to meet one another, share those ideas, and help bring those ideas to life.

CLOSING RECEPTION

Join us one final time with the wall of ideas, and your last chance to add your ideas and meet collaborators to help bring ideas to life. This will also be a brainstorm about community art spaces.

How To Participate.

  • It can be ideas for art that you want to create, art you want to exist in the world, or just a cool idea. As long as it is something that can be created. (For example, an elevator pitch for a short film idea that you have would be great, but submitting a post-it note doodle of a cat with no explanation is less great).

  • It can be anything that we can pin on the wall. Whether it’s a rough handwritten outline of a book you want to write, or you printed out a whole complex proposal of a mural you want to make with sample pictures, or even just a note that you scribbled on a napkin.

  • We'll need some ideas before the show starts to help kickstart the wall of ideas.

Ideas can be submitted in person at our monthly Creators Happy Hour on Monday July 29th at 5:30pm at Jackie O’s Cocktail Bar on 609 South Jennings Street Fort Worth, TX 76104.

There will also be drop off times at The Pool leading up to opening night as we begin assembling the large wall of ideas. (More info to come. Follow us on Instagram for updates).

You can also submit your ideas online using this Google Form.

Once the show starts, you are welcome to either bring your idea ready to pin to the wall, or use our Imagination Station to write down your idea at the show.

  • There is no limit on the number of ideas you can submit. Try not to bombard us with 1,000 ideas, but if you have a dozen or so ideas that you’d like to submit, please feel free to share.

  • Ideas will be pinned to the large wall of ideas, and throughout the run of the show, they’ll constantly be shifted around as we attempt to cluster similar ideas together, and organize them all in some sort of coherent way.

  • At the show, we’ll have stickers for how people are seeking collaboration (if at all). The options include; “seeking money”,  “seeking resources”, “seeking collaborators”, and one option for “steal this idea”, meaning that it’s just an idea you want to see in the world and anyone is free to take that idea and run with it.

Alongside each of your ideas you are welcome to include how you would like collaborators to reach out to you, either your email address, your phone number, or your social media handle.

  • We can’t promise that anything you submit will be returned to you at the end of the show. So rather than submitting any originals that you want back, consider submitting copies.

At the end of our closing night, folks will be allowed to take ideas home with them. So if you do want to submit anything original & precious to you and want it back afterwards, you are welcome to take it with you as the show closes.
